The National Youth Film Academy (NYFA) is all about helping talented young filmmakers and actors bridge the gap between education and employment. As well as one-to-one coaching and advice, we provide members with some great opportunities to put their skills into practice and create their own short films.
Our programmes help you understand the filmmaking process from conception to screening. Members work collaboratively to create a script, source locations, raise funding, deal with PR and promotion as well as shooting the film. This kind of practical experience is invaluable to young people looking to take their first steps into the industry.
During 2020 we ran all our programmes successfully through a combination of socially distant gatherings and online seminars. And the format was so successful we’ve decided to repeat again in 2021.
Open to all members, groups work together to produce their own short film. Members have a range of online seminars and workshops starting in April then meet in London in August to shoot the movie.
Breakthrough Into Acting
This programme is perfect for young actors looking to boost their employability. Lead by Adam Leese, participants will have a series of monthly seminars starting in April, building up to a workshop on location in August.
Summer Shorts has been upgraded to RiseUp but still provides the opportunity for members who have successfully completed SetReady to gain further experience in filmmaking. This is a free programme for those with the talent and drive to complete a collaborative project independently from tutors.
