NYFA Easter Course & Aftercare Review: Grace Englert

Meet Grace

Grace is an actress and completed the #SetReady Course in the Easter of 2017. She’s remained in close contact with us since and has had a number of auditions.

How did you find the course?

“I really enjoyed the course and made some really great friends on it. The course itself was madness; we created a short film over the course of a week all to be written, filmed and edited in that time period. It was an experience like no other and fantastic to do with a bunch of hard-working creative and talented likeminded crazy people.”

What was your favourite aspect of the course?

“The talks were exceptional. So incredibly motivating and inspirational and definitely the highlights of the course. From cinematographer Phil Meheux to actor/director Johnathon Firth. Their advice is invaluable.”

What would be your ideal role?

“Screen acting I absolutely love. The intimacy of the camera, nothing is missed and everything is picked up. You can everything in someone’s eyes on a screen. Then again, with the wrong actor, you can also see nothing! There’s no barrier with screen acting and I find that magical. Then again, my dream role is to play Evadne from The Maid’s Tragedy at the RNT, so perhaps screen isn’t my favourite.”

In five years time, where do you see yourself?

“I see myself continually loving acting. Doing the job I love because I love it. This is an endurance career and I’m in it for the long haul. In terms of the future, my plans consist of determination, hard work and resilience. My focus is very important, and it doesn’t stray from the goal. Bring on the next feature.”

How did you find the aftercare with NYFA?

“Since completing the course I have had various tv/film auditions. Since joining the agency attached to the academy (in December) I have had auditions and callbacks for exciting tv series. I had my first supporting lead role in a feature film in the summer of 2017, which I was in the process of auditioning for during the Easter course-  Which was the most amazing experience. I loved every moment and cannot wait for the feature to be released. “

Through the agency has landed a number of auditions…

But, now, Grace has landed her big break as she has been cast as Becky in the new Ip Man 4 film.
