Last night 5 of our Emerging Brits were lucky enough to be invited to the Raindance Independent Filmmakers Ball at Cafe de Paris in Leicester Square!
Filmmakers Lissi Simpson-Watt, Shayan Ali and Jay Seymour and Actors Harry Duff-Walker and Grace Ward attended the event with National Youth Film Academy’s Member and Events Manager, Lucy Archer. We caught up with some of them to find out about the evening.
Jay Seymour, Editor, said
“The Raindance Ball was such an amazing and surreal experience. Getting the chance to network with so many industry professionals and telling them about my journey as an Editor makes me realise how far I’ve come with the National Youth Film Academy!”
Lucy Archer, Member and Events Manager, said
“It was amazing to bet able to take some of our Emerging Brits to the Raindance ball and to see them networking with so many filmmakers, swapping cards and contact details. Presenting our members with the opportunity to meet industry professionals is incredibly important to us and to be able to do so through partnerships with companies such as Raindance is incredible. Hopefully some great connections were made that night!”
Grace Ward, Actor, said
“Getting to go the Raindance Ball was really exciting. It was such a great atmosphere with like-minded people who were both wanting to get into the industry, and those already in it. I met a lot of interesting people and possible future collaborators.
Having my photo taken with the other Emerging Brits also felt really special and the Jazz band playing were FANTASTIC! All I will say is, to anyone who is nervous about attending events like this, don’t be, it’s such a great opportunity, and I fully recommend events like this to all filmmakers and actors. Thanks so much to National Youth Film Academy for taking me! “
